Position: Speech Language Pathologist – .7 Contract or 1.0 Contract
Organization: WaNee Community Schools – Nappanee Elementary School
Position Description
SLP Position at a K-5 elementary school, contract is for 183 days, could be a .7 contract or a 1.0 contract depending on the candidate’s needs.
Job Responsibilities;
- Conduct speech, language, hearing screens.
- Diagnose and evaluate speech, language and hearing skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors.
- Plan, direct and conduct habilitative and rehabilitative treatment programs to develop communicative efficiency of individuals with communication delays.
- Provide counseling and guidance in speech and language development therapy to enhance disabled individuals.
- Review individual files obtaining background information prior to evaluation to determine appropriate assessment protocol.
- Administer, score, and interpret specialized speech and language assessments and hearing screenings.
- Develop individualized educational plans for students to meet individual needs, interests, and abilities.
- Conduct evaluations within guidelines established through Article 7.
- Report progress on IEP goals on the statutorily required basis.
- Attend/hold case conferences within guidelines established through Article 7.
- Review treatment plans and assess individual performance as it relates to the IEP.
- Maintain records required by law, establishes policy and administrative regulations.
- Attend meetings and conferences to promote professional growth.
- Instruct individuals to monitor their own speech and provide ways to practice skills.
- Serve as consultant for classroom teachers, psychologist, principals, and counselors to promote speech and language development activities in the daily schedule.
- Bill Medicaid as eligible for services rendered.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team for evaluation and programming
- Perform other duties as assigned.
