ARE THESE PROFESSIONS FOR YOU?

Do you have a sincere interest in helping people and want to make a positive difference in people’s lives?

As a speech-language pathologist or audiologist, you will help individuals every day. Your clients may include an infant who needs her hearing screened, a school-aged child with a language disorder, a teenager who sustained brain damage and needs help communicating, or an adult recovering from a stroke.

Do you want a career with job stability and flexibility?

Job opportunities in speech-language pathology and audiology are excellent! Your services are needed! Due to shortages in these professions, schools, hospitals, and private practices are hiring in Indiana. Since speech and hearing services are a vital part of total health care and the educational system, there is increasing demand for these services. With a master’s degree in speech-language pathology or a clinical doctorate in audiology, you are able to work in a variety of settings.

Are you curious and enjoy intellectual challenges?

The evaluation and treatment of a communication disorder requires that you think critically and creatively, while responding with humanity. Communication is our most human characteristic. When someone has a communication disorder because of a stroke, an undetected hearing impairment, or some other speech, language or hearing disorder, every aspect of the person’s life is affected. Speech-language pathologists and audiologists respond to the challenge of those needing help with communication skills. You can improve people’s lives!
