Congratulations to Sheryl Klasnick,
our April Member of the Month!
Sheryl received her Bachelor’s degree from Loyola College in Maryland in 1998 and continued her Master’s of Speech- Language Pathology education there graduating in 2000. Sheryl works for the VA Medical Center in Indianapolis. Her favorite population/disorder to treat is “dysphagia. From initial evaluation through treatment, I love working with patients on improving their swallow function. The ability to provide daily therapy on the rehab unit helps me to establish rapport with not only the patient, but their caregivers with education and training on swallow safety. It is such a rewarding profession. My favorite part of this profession is the flexibility it offers. I was a traveling speech-language pathologist for 8 years and worked in a variety of settings which allowed me to broaden my experiences. Being at the VA, I can combine my passion for working with the adult and geriatric population within the medical setting. I have the humbling privilege each day to serve our nation’s veterans.”
Sheryl has been a member of the Indiana Speech-Language Hearing Association since 2013. Sheryl’s favorite benefit of being an ISHLA member: “I enjoy attending our annual convention. It is a great opportunity for professional development and to hear colleagues present on evidenced-based practices and current research in our field. I would encourage others to join ISHA because ISHA strives to increase public awareness of our profession and advocates for legislation in support of those individuals we serve.”
Thank you Sheryl for being an ISHLA Member!
