Efficacy of integrative intervention method: A single-subject design
by Steven Elmlinger
Abstract: The phonological skill of a child allows for them to access and manipulate a sound structure; a skill necessary for decoding text. The utilization of phonological awareness intervention methods with children over 5 years old is limited in the speech pathology research literature. In addition, incorporating nonlinguistic factors of attention and working memory with phonological awareness tasks with young children has not been investigated. A multi-baseline single subject design was used to monitor the developmental progress of literacy and phonological awareness skills of a nine-year-old child diagnosed with dyslexia and articulation disorder using pre/post assessments and weekly probes of dictation.
Please attend the ISHA convention in Indianapolis on April 5th to see the results obtained from the implementation of my intervention tasks and probes.
