ASHA Guidelines for School-Based SLPs

In response to dramatic changes in school-based practice, ASHA developed a position statement in 2010 on the roles and responsibilities of speech-language pathologists in schools. Within the changing educational context, this document highlights critical roles for SLPs in education and the need for clinicians to become key players in school reform efforts. It was anticipated that this position might require realignment of existing roles and responsibilities in the context of a reasonable workload with appropriate professional preparation and lifelong learning.
